Constant interest to the history development of Ukrainain gas industry by professionals and ordinary citizens is still growing because of its important role in the economy of Ukraine. Contradictory of views on this problem does need to input  new reliable sources  to scientific use.

One of the richest repository of scientific and technical documentation in our  country is the Central State Scientific and Technical Archives of Ukraine. Their  funds include documents covering the history of gas industry in our country.

Among them there are the projects of pipelines such as «Dashava – Kyiv – Bryansk – Moscow», «Krasnodar – Rostov-on-Don – Lugansk – Serpukhov», «Ordzhonikidze – Tbilissi»,  «Soyuz», «Progres», «Urengoy – Pomary –Uzhgorod», as well as gas storages, development of gas fields.

The exhibition includes materials of projects developed in the All-Union Research and Design Institute of natural gas transport «VNIPITRANSGAZ» Ministry of Gas Industry of the USSR, Kyiv (СDNTA  of Ukraine, f.-84).

Posters of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945s, found in a personal fund of B. P. Ostashchenko-Kudryavtsev, astrometrist and cartographer, Doctor of Science in Physics and Mathematics who used these posters as drafts for his calculations…

 “About measures on improvement of archival affair in republic”

The Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR decides:

1. To accept the offer of Archival Management at the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR: 

– about transferring in 1970  Central Archives of October Revolution and Socialism Building of the Ukrainian SSR from Kharkov to Kiev and their accommodation in the main building of Central State Archives of the Ukrainian SSR,  24 Solomenskaya Str., which construction comes to the end in 1970;

–  about abolition of Central State Historical Archives department of the Ukrainian SSR in  Kharkov  and  its  elimination  from the network of the State Archives of the Ukrainian SSR, approved by the Decision of Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR,  April 17, 1963, № 459 (СM of Ukrainian SSR, 1963, № 4, item 34).

The documentary materials stored  in this department are to be  passed in  determined order to Central State Historical Archives of the Ukrainian SSR in  Kiev. The department office (400 square meters) on 13 Universitetskaya Str. is to be  passed  with a constant storage of documentary materials to  Kharkov Municipal State Archives.

2. For centralization of keeping and wide use of the scientific and technical documentation formed as a result of activity of scientific and technical institutes and design organizations of the republic, except for operating in system of Academy of Sciences of Ukrainian SSR, to create in Kharkov the Central State Scientific and Technical Archives of Ukraine and to place them on 4 and 8  Universitetskaya Str., after Central Archives of October Revolution and Socialism Building leaves. Archival Management at the Council of Ministers of Ukrainian SSR is advised to carry out the organization of the Central State Scientific and Technical Archives of Ukraine in Kharkov according to the limits of the plan of work, number of the administrative and management personnel and assignments, determined by the republic budget to maintain state archival institutions.
